Cryptid Chronicles: Legacy of the Ancients

NPC Shifts
What is an NPC Shift, and What Does It Mean to Take One?
At almost every LARP you attend you're going to encounter a phenomenon called an "NPC shift". This is when you, the PC, gets assigned a four-hour time slot before game starts. Then, when it's your time, you report to staff headquarters (commonly referred to as "monster camp" at LARPs) where you will be sent out on a variety of mods alongside a mod leader to oversee the encounter.

Your NPC shift is an excellent time to learn more of the game mechanics, see how all of the backstage magic unfurls and work on your acting skills. You could be sent out on mods as anything from a zombie to a king or a sentient tree...no two NPC shifts ever go exactly the same!

In addition we do compensate our players for their time -- we don't expect free labor! Your in-game reason for your temporary disappearance is that your character is "going to do some shopping in town" for a few hours, and you get to return to game with coin, a buff or some other useful thing to aid your adventures. Additionally, if you decide that you really love us and want to take on a 2nd NPC shift in the same weekend, then not only will you return with your in-game reward, you'll also earn extra Character EXP to help you level up faster. How cool is that!?
